Graves of Kali
Lyrics, Production, Guitar by Danielle Fehr
Cover art, Creative Development by Hexadecibal

Elements of Darkwave, Goth, Electronic Industrial, Lo-fi, and whatever else you hear.

Themes include Death and Acceptance. Danielle wrote the lyrics about an intense vision she had during a ritual experience. A version of the tale follows as companion to the lyrics:

Giving up all protection, I signed a contract with death and fell through the graveyard at the end of time, into a liminal void space.

The arbiter of this contract appeared softly to my right, and and reality of it was simply shocking, a protector who only chooses now to be seen - and she was a great ancient family matron of an age past. Someone I knew but did not know.

Dead, very dead like…preserved dead. Around her were many roses and she lay arms folded, with a bouquet on her bosom in a glass-latticed coffin and with eyes closed, her spirit presided.

Adorned in a black velvet and jade death gown. Quite a presence actually. Then I met Kali. Girrrrllll.

Kali crawled from a blackened window behind the bed, and emerged in the form of a many armed skeletal woman with long straight raven hair.

When I looked around I still had four walls around me but no roof. All around me I saw graves of the dead. Vanitas. Towering Christian graves for popes, all religions and sepulture styles that exist were present. A grave for the buddha and a place for the fiend. All heroes, all saints, all thieves, beggars and kings alike. The sky was a blackened, a cracked, boiling green storm.

The goddess of entropy and decay grabbed me after I signed this contract, sealed with a kiss.

With moss covered fingers of bone she pulled me under the graveyard at the end of time, like pulling a sheet off a bed. Shewp!!

I dropped down through a darkened mirror into the bardos and I saw the chain of existence. Great monolithic stones with hidden symbols rotating the eons like beads on a string of blue flame. I saw many things there, and I felt as if I was in my whole universal self. Like, not the monkey brain… hands or feet… but a mysterious third thing. I had the realization that I now knew much that was hidden. And I was incredibly empowered by this feeling. I was floating in the void, and saw this chain. These great threaded stones with symbols not meant to be remembered.

Monoliths like standing stones. And all across our living world, we find them shaped together in concentric circles…archaeologists and philosophers alike will study them and ponder this curiosity.
What does it mean?

If you had to preserve a message for 12,000 years how would you do it? The standing stones in our world… They represent time, duh. We already know they align with stars and the sun and stuff. “wHaT dOeS iT mEaN¿” the experts ask.

The standing stones are concentric circles of time. True. And I believe the experience of existing, and abiding as a spiritual creature in multiple planes of reality, like dimensions. Hierarchies of our soul divinity as it relates to how we experience consciousness and the rare form that is a living body.

Within? Another ring. Outside your truth? Yet another realm. No wonder we’re all crazy, and false. Like it’s all a dream, alright.

These places are not hidden, truly. And can be accessed if one has the proper tools, a strong mind, and a steady heart. Through the synthesis of your mortal form, unlock the door and step inside.

What I saw I can only relate to say it this: It’s a love machine. The chain of existence simply *is*…and it’s purpose is for love to grow and grow and grow. Even in dying, suffering, and pain. Pretty cool experience that shook me to my core. The kinda thing you may wanna write a song about.

Graves of Kali
Lyrics by Danielle Fehr

Ooh.

Girl it’s time,
Give up the fight your mother gave you.
All this time,
Can’t change the past so now we let it go, oh oh.
The path you take is always to yourself,
You know.
The promise that you made of letting go.

The graves are closing in,
At the end of time.
Reach through the looking glass,
For your shattered mind.

The sacred stones are falling
From the fractured sky.
The death of all creation,
In your mind, nowhere to hide.

Ooh.

You’ve seen the mountain,
But you couldn’t possibly,
Take this message
home.

Love is a fountain.
Inside your bleeding soul.
We can’t go home.
We can’t go home.

We all made from the grave.
You tried to wash the blood from your hands.

Guitar Sings.

We are made from the grave.
You tried to wash the blood from your hands.

We are made from the grave.
I tried to wash the blood from my hands.

We are made from the grave.
Great stones sewn together
like beads threaded by a
glowing tether.
It was made for you.
It was made for love.
